Uddhav follows in Siddaramaiah’s steps, seeks Maharashtra’s ‘rightful due’ | India News – Times of India

MUMBAI: Days after Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah led a protest to Delhi against the Centre’s alleged bias in allocation of funds to states, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said Maharashtra must get its rightful share. Uddhav said Maharashtra pays one rupee as tax to the Centre, but only 7 paise is returned to the state. He demanded that the state be paid back at least 50% of the money it sends to the Centre.
Speaking at a meeting of Sena’s (UBT) Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti, Uddhav said that whenever govt at the Centre changes, he would take the lead to amend the laws related to the distribution of funds to states. “Maharashtra’s hard-earned money accounts for a large portion of ‘Modi guarantee’. What are you giving to Maharashtra in return? You are stripping the state of funds and diverting this money to schemes and doling out freebies,” he said.
