JD(U) advises Congress to introspect on its stand and seat-sharing | India News – Times of India

PATNA: Amid strong speculation about the fall of Bihar’s Grand Alliance government, JD(U) state president Umesh Kushwaha advised Congress on Friday to “do some introspection about its stand towards other constituents and sharing of seats”.
There are rumours abouta senior JD(U) minister close to chief minister Nitish Kumar being in touch with a few of the 19 Congress MLAs before a crucial party legislators’ meeting on Sunday to take them into confidence before announcing its decision to form government with BJP.
Nitish parted ways with BJP in August 2022 and brought the opposition parties onto one platform at the Patna meeting in June last year in the hope of playing a lead role against the PM Narendra Modi-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections. But Congress and his Bihar ally, RJD chief Lalu Prasad, neither gave Nitish the role he believed he deserved in the opposition INDIA bloc nor held any decisive discussions on seat-sharing despite JD(U) saying that time was running out.
Against this background, the JD(U) state chief said on Friday: “…Our leader, Nitish Kumar, has for long been stressing the need for early finalisation of a seat-sharing deal so that we can concentrate on the upcoming polls.” JD(U)’s Gopal Mandal, too, claimed Nitish was not given due respect in the Grand Alliance.
