Malini Awasthi’s Divine Experience: Beauty, Peace & Tranquility in Ayodhya | – Times of India

Padmashri Malini Awasthi was one of the six singers invited by the temple trust to perform at the Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya on January 22. Malini, who sang a sohar, a folk song of Uttar Pradesh sung on the occasion of a child’s birth, calls the experience the best one of her life. Malini, who was seen getting emotional and taking ballaiyan in videos of the consecration ceremony, told us, “I can’t even describe what feeling it was! It wasn’t just divine, it was one of the most cherished and special moments of my life. Rama is known for serenity and grace, and wahan ka poora vatavaran utna hi saumya tha. There was beauty, peace and tranquillity in the atmosphere. There were so many dignitaries, VVIPs but everybody just surrendered to the moment. There was just one emotion of happiness and celebration among everyone.”

She went on to add, “Just two days before the ceremony, six artistes had been requested by the nyas to perform at the Pran Pratishtha. There was Sonu Nigam, Shankar Mahadevan, Anuradha Paudwal, Kailash Kher, Hariharan and myself. Sonu began the performance with Shri Ram Chandra Kripalu Bhajaman followed by Shankar Mahadevan and then Anuradhaji who sang a bhajan and a shlok dedicated to lord Rama. I sang a sohar, a folk song which is sung on the occasion of the birth of a child in Rama’s reverence. What was magical was that none of us musicians were singing with our bands. We were all just making our offerings in the form of our music. Hum toh aur kya de sakte hain bhagwan ko siway apni kala ke. Hamare liye toh isse bada samman aur hamari kala ka recognition kuchh aur ho hi nahi sakta ki hamein apni kala prastut karne ka itna mahan avsar mila. It was a very emotional moment. One realises later that one was part of seeing history in making.”
“It’s not just about worshipping Rama, it is about imbibing his qualities. It was about music, your voice, holding hands. Hum sab sangeet mein itne talleen thay. It was like we were all in a frenzy or a trance just singing praises of the deity. And not just us, it was the same with all the 30 musicians who had been invited from all over India to perform at the ceremony. I have so many experiences to share but this was the most divine and special and feel blessed to be there. I can say that it was the greatest moment of my life!”
Malini Awasthi will also be the first artiste to perform at the 45-day Sur Seva programme being organised in the temple sanctum sanctorum from today.
